Call For Dancers

Saturday, February 11th 4-6pm
@The New Day Center For The Arts

PDX Dance Collective is currently seeking dancers to participate in our upcoming full length performance. We are holding an open call for dancers and movers Saturday, February 11, 2017 from 4-6pm at The New Day Center – 5516 SE Foster Rd. PDX. Join us as we guide you through a warm up, choreography phrases from several of PDX Dance Collective’s members, and a chance to show your own style through guided improvisation. PDX Dance Collective provides a friendly non-competitive dance environment where self-expression and individuality are celebrated. As such, we are looking for people to work with us who approach dance with a positive, open, and non-judgmental attitude.

For our 8th production, each of PDX Dance Collective’s choreographers will create works that explore an emotion. The show will be put together to bring the audience through an emotional life-cycle. Our show dates are set for May 26, 27 & 28, 2017. Depending on how many pieces you participate in, rehearsal attendance will vary, but full company rehearsals will occur on Saturday afternoons at 2pm with additional days/times added depending on dancers’ schedules.

A few things to keep in mind: No need to bring a resume/headshot but if you have one handy it is helpful. We will have everyone fill out a short form when they arrive, so please arrive a little early! Also, we mostly dance in bare feet, we will be dancing on a wood floor, but if you are more comfortable in dance shoes please bring those. Feel free to wear anything that you’re comfortable moving in.

Please send us a message if you have any questions. Otherwise, we’ll see you there!

Fertile Ground Preview

We had a great time performing at Groovin’ Greenhouse as a part of the Fertile Ground fesitval on January 23 and 24. We performed a couple works in progress from our upcoming show “Trust Rhythm”, including Hannah Downs original work, “Cycle and Seek”, and Rachael Brown’s tap and contemporary fusion experiment! It was great to perform with Polaris Dance Theatre, Muddy Feet Contemporary Dance and Portland Belly Dance Guild. Come check out our full production April 10th and 11th at Headwaters Theatre. Tickets available here.

Seasons February 2014

Expression of the emotional life cycle set to a re-composition of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons

PORTLAND, ORE — January 23, 2014 — The local dance group, PDX Dance Collective,
presents Seasons, an original production that takes us on a journey through the emotional life cycle. Performed in the intimate setting of an art studio, audiences will be immersed and engaged throughout as the group explores everything from the joy of beginnings and wonder of innocence, to the complex and often desperate need to connect with others, and on towards the path of acceptance and letting go. The entirety of the show is set to a contemporary re-composition of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons by Max Richter.

Original members Elise Ericksen, Katelyn Kollinzas, and Rachael Brown along with one year member Gabriel Green and newcomer Hannah Downs, contribute their interpretations of this emotional journey through original choreography.

Seasons is a spectacular highlight in PDX Dance Collective’s journey since we began four years ago,” says Rachael Brown, founding member. “We have really grown together as dancers, choreographers and friends. This will mark the first time we join our creative forces to create a production with one score of music. The result is magical.”

A “Masque” Delight!

We had a fabulous time dancing at Masque! We loved supporting Planned Parenthood and we got to improv with some amazing musicians. Thank you to everyone who made it possible!
